
Fall = football, brisk Sundays, and CHILI time!
This recipe is easy and will give you several days of meals. For busy people having a healthy and filling meal is a huge appeal.
Ingredients:
– 1 lb Ground turkey
– 1 Onion
– 2 Red or Yellow pepper
– 2-3 bay leaves (or sage leaves)
– Salt/ pepper to taste
– Chili powder to taste
– 12 oz of Crushed tomatoes
– 6 oz of Tomato paste
– 1 or 2 can of Beans (black, pinto, kidney etc)
If you have a Dutch Oven (shown above) or a large (like… LARGE) sauce pot would work…
Sauté cut onions and peppers in olive oil until tender
Add ground turkey until brown
Add cut garlic for a 1 minute
Stir in the tomato paste
Add the crushed tomatoes
Add water using the empty crushed tomato can (fill at least ½ the can with water- the beans will soak excess water)
Add beans
Add salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste
Low to medium heat for 40 minutes (stirring occasionally)
Serve with some warm bread or biscuits YUMMY!
